At least 21 people were wounded and one killed by a bomb explosion on a bus in south Jerusalem, Israel. Over the past six months, 29 Israelis have been killed in a wave of stabbings, shootings or car-ramming attacks by Palestinians or Israeli Arabs. About 200 Palestinians - mostly attackers, Israel says - have also been killed in that period.

Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne (right) was given a tour of the National Composites Centre at the Bristol and Bath Science Park before making a speech in which he stated that Britain would be "permanently poorer" outside the European Union. He issued the warning ahead of the in-out referendum on 23 June. Leave campaigners dismissed the forecasts as "absurd".

Actress Amber Heard avoided a conviction for illegally taking her dogs into Australia. Ms Heard had brought the dogs, Pistol and Boo, to Queensland in a private jet in May 2015 to visit her husband, actor Johnny Depp, who was filming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Australia's tough quarantine laws are designed to keep disease at bay. Dogs entering from the US must spend 10 days in quarantine. The couple are seen here arriving at court for the hearing.

The flame for the Olympic Games in Brazil was lit in southern Greece. The lighting ceremony took place in Ancient Olympia, where the Games took place for more than 1,000 years. Greek actress Katerina Lehou, playing the role of High Priestess, lit the torch with the help of the sun's rays.

South Sudan held a wrestling for peace tournament, bringing together athletes from around the country. Here two participants from Imatong and Terekeka counties wrestle at Juba Stadium, on April 20, 2016. The last big tournament was cancelled when civil war broke out in December 2013.

Police officers continued to search for missing victims in the village of Minamiaso, Kumamoto prefecture, Japan. Buildings and roads in the mountain town had been destroyed by an earthquake and landslide on Saturday.

On the other side of the world in Ecuador, rescuers were also searching for survivors following a 7.8 quake in Muisne. Thousands of people have been left homeless, making them vulnerable to dirty drinking water and disease, and nearly 600 killed.

Britain's Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 90th birthday with a walkabout in Windsor where she met well-wishers who lined the streets. The monarch also unveiled a plaque marking The Queen's Walkway - a trail stretching nearly four miles that links 63 significant points in Windsor.
