1。401K limit -- 16500
2。roth ira -- 有incoming限制
3。traditional ira --

tradition IRA have contribution limit not income limit.  Age > 50 may contribute more.

(1)Single filers: Up to $105,000 (to qualify for a full contribution); $105,000–$120,000 (to be eligible for a partial contribution)

(2)Joint filers: Up to $169,000 (to qualify for a full contribution); $169,000–$179,000 (to be eligible for a partial contribution)

(3)Married filing separately (if the couple lived together for any part of the year): $0 (to qualify for a full contribution); $0–$10,000 (to be eligible for a partial contribution).

EITHER 现在交 OR 59。

Even for person with high income and 401K contribution, he/she can still make up to $5000 (or $6000 if older than 50) traditional IRA with after-tax money, and then converted to Roth IRA. Am I right? Any time limitation before traditional IRA can be converted to Roth IRA?

is it tue that "Even for person with high income and 401K contribution, he/she can still make up to $5000 (or $6000 if older than 50) traditional IRA with after-tax money"? I'm considering to use it to defer the capital gain.

If your AGI >$17900,  you still can contribute after-tax tranditional IRA and then convert it to ROTH IRA right after your account is settled.

Thanks a lot. I have rolled over 401 k to a ira account. Can I use it to contribute after-tax traditional IRA? When converting to roth, do I have to pay the tax one more time?

ONe thing you got to keep in mind is that

moving your IRA account(s) from one broker to others is one time deal per year.

If you move your account around for more than one time, you mush be entitled to pay tax since such moves would be considered withdrawal of money from your account.

Get advice from your CPA.
