Major League Baseball just announced that Nick Swisher will participate in the Home Run Derby. He and Diamondbacks outfielder Chris Young are the latest additions.

Obviously this will bring back all of the Robinson Cano questions of just a few days ago.

Swisher has won the final spot in the all-star game and will join Derek Jeter, Robinson Cano, Phil Hughes, Andy Pettitte, CC Sabathia, Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees coaching staff in Anaheim.

7 Yankees in All Star Game.

屁屁涕的干爹艳客队老板被其2012给吓死啦!

NEW YORK (Reuters) – George Steinbrenner, the New York Yankees owner known as "The Boss" for his tempestuous style, has died at age 80, the New York Daily News reported on its website on Tuesday, citing an unnamed, high-placed team source.

Media reports said that he suffered a massive heart attack at his home in Tampa, Florida, and was rushed to hospital.

Steinbrenner demanded results and got them running America's most successful sports franchise. The Yankees won seven World Series titles and 11 American League pennants since he bought the fabled club in 1973. He handed over daily operations of the club to his sons in recent years.

"Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing," he once said.

Steinbrenner's Yankees empire, which he purchased for $10 million, is now worth billions.

Steinbrenner, who turned 80 on the U.S. Independence Day holiday on July 4, was a well-known figure in popular culture, routinely pictured on the back pages of New York's tabloids wearing his familiar white turtleneck under a blue blazer and regularly skewered in the TV sitcom "Seinfeld."

Mayor Mike Bloomberg has announced that the flags will be lowered at City Hall Plaza in honor of George Steinbrenner’s passing.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Steinbrenner family,” Bloomberg said in a released statement. “This is a sad day not only for Yankee fans, but for our entire City, as few people have had a bigger impact on New York over the past four decades than George Steinbrenner. George had a deep love for New York, and his steely determination to succeed – combined with his deep respect and appreciation for talent and hard work – made him a quintessential New Yorker.

“George invested his heart and soul into the Yankees, and his competitive fire helped usher in new eras of Yankee greatness, reclaiming the team’s long tradition of excellence and its position as the most successful franchise in the history of American sports. He was a champion who made New York a better place, and who always gave back to the city he loved. He has left an indelible legacy on the Yankees, on baseball, and on our city, and he leaves us in the only way that would be appropriate: as a reigning world champion.”

MLB Commissioner Bud Selig put out a statement on George Steinbrenner. Here it is:

On behalf of Baseball, I am very saddened by the passing this morning of George Steinbrenner. George was a giant of the game and his devotion to baseball was surpassed only by his devotion to his family and his beloved New York Yankees. He was and always will be as much of a New York Yankee as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford and all of the other Yankee legends.

I have known George ever since he entered the game in 1972. He was my dear friend for nearly four decades. Although we would have disagreements over the years, they never interfered with our friendship and commitment to each other. Our friendship was built on loyalty and trust and it never wavered. We were allies and friends in the truest sense of the words.

My wife, Sue, and I pass on our deepest sympathies to the Steinbrenner family, to the New York Yankees and to all of his friends. We will miss him, especially tonight when the baseball family will be gathered at Angel Stadium for the All-Star Game.

When Mr. Steinbrenner was @the home opener in ‘04, as he was being interviewed, fans were shouting, “Thank you, George.”

He turned to them and waved.

He then broke down in tears. He said that it had always been about the fans, and in that instance you knew that it wasn’t rhetoric.

Yankees won it all in 2009, it's only fitting that Steinbrenner went out as a world champ.

The New York Yankees will hold a tribute to commemorate the lives and recognize the passings of former Principal Owner / Chairperson George M. Steinbrenner III and longtime Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard prior to their 7:05 p.m. game on Friday, July 16 vs. Tampa Bay.

Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. for the pregame ceremony which will include a video tribute to “The Boss” and a special moment of silence honoring both of the Yankees icons. Red Sox pause rivalry, pay respect to Sheppard and Steinbrenner

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox and their fan base are not the biggest fans of Yankee tradition.

But after two of New York's legends -- longtime public address announcer Bob Sheppard and longtime owner George Steinbrenner -- died this week, Red Sox nation was ready to pay its respects to two symbols of Boston's most hated rival.

Before the national anthem at Fenway Park, the Red Sox played a tribute to Sheppard and Steinbrenner on their video screen. Then, they asked fans for a moment of silence. And there were no jeers, no booing -- nothing. It was the ultimate sign of respect from the typically rowdy Boston crowd.

During his pre-game press conference, Red Sox manager Terry Francona was asked if he remembers being introduced by Sheppard at Yankee Stadium.

"I don't know, I actually don't know," Francona said. "It's actually really hard -- I don't know if you're going to believe me -- but it's hard to hear in the dugout. I don't sit around waiting to see how my name comes out, especially there. Usually, there's three people in the second row who follow (my name) up with 'You suck!' "
