FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi won a routine budget vote on Wednesday, but appeared to lose his parliamentary majority, news reports said. The government's report on its 2010 public accounts received the backing of 308 lawmakers, news reports said. That's short of the 316 needed for an absolute majority in the 630-seat Chamber of Deputies. Opposition lawmakers abstained from the vote.

Beyond today, a likely scenario would be for Italian PM to resign and a form government formed just like the Greek drama ...

Before this Italian opera to close, we may have another roller coaster ride, but I'm betting SPX won't go too high or too high at the end of it ... So just hold your positions whether you're long or short for the time being would be a good strategy if you're not day trading ...
