From the loan brokerage. A friend of mine who just did refinancing not long ago is doing it again now as the interest is getting lower.  He has a big loan over 1m and is exciting about the new-low interest that makes it possible for him to buy another house.

The residential RE used to have either high interest rates & low house prices or low interest rates & high house prices. It is really a rare chance to have both at the historically low levels. FED is alluring potential buyers to squeeze their last pennies to buy houses from big banks.

The rate was, thanks to Ben. The price is not, at least in CA.  The low rate is just another $8000.  People rushed into the market to get the $8000 have already complained.

You may mean several special regions in CA, such as the bay area. That is true. For other areas in CA, the house price was quite low before 2000. Anyway, if you have cash and good credit, it is a good time to get a good deal right now.
