TICK is the best indicator, especially for short term trading.
Other TA indicators are just some easier looking interpretation of price.

Here TICK shows PD, but you still have to look for correct setup. At least you wouldn't focus on short side.

    Not sure about news. But today TLT moves in lock step with $SPX, and GLD stopped under a major resistance. Plus yesterday a story said that Fed may reduce the size of QE2. So right now the market may expect a smaller QE, which will keep economy afloat, but not a heightened inflation.
