Navalny's doctors have urged him to immediately end his hunger strike, warning that he may die. Thousands of Russians rallied on Wednesday demanding his release.

Katie Wright, mother of Daunte Wright, at his funeral at Shiloh Temple International Ministries in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US. Mr Wright, a black man, was shot dead by police officer Kim Potter during a routine traffic stop in the Brooklyn Center suburb of the city. The officer has since resigned and been charged with second-degree manslaughter.

The Boeoegg, a snowman made of wadding and filled with firecrackers, is burnt in a bonfire on the Devil's Bridge over the Schoellenen Gorge near Andermatt in Switzerland. The traditional event is part of Sechselauten, a Spring festival. The belief is that the longer it takes for the snowman's head to explode, the warmer the summer will be.
