UK astronaut Tim Peake returned to Earth after a six-month stay on the International Space Station. The Soyuz capsule carrying Major Peake, Yuri Malenchenko of Russia and Timothy Kopra of the US, touched down in Kazakhstan.

Actor Charlie Sheen discussed his sexual history in an interview with Piers Morgan during a one-off show at London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Asked if he had had unprotected sex since finding out he was HIV-positive, Sheen said: "I never did. Because I wouldn't do that to someone. I would not. How could I explain it later?" The former Two And A Half Men actor only went public with his diagnosis in November, but confirmed he had been diagnosed several years ago.

A full moon rose behind Glastonbury Tor as people gathered to celebrate the summer solstice in Somerset, England. The strawberry moon, a name given to the full moon in June by Native Americans because it marks the beginning of the strawberry-picking season, last occurred on the solstice on 22 June 1967 and it will not happen again on the summer solstice for another 46 years.
