The fundermental question is whether people in that area has the need to communicate between big cities that often. In US metropolitan areas, people work in the city and live in the suburb. That is an elastic demand. It seems that the demand in China for such cuminication is for casual purposes. If one day Shanghai's high property price (tax, if it is implemented), high rental price, rediculous traffic jams force people to move out of city, such high speed communication train will find its customers.
For now, it is just a cash burner Vase. Their hope is that now that the train line is built, maybe it will another reason for people to move out. Time will tell. |
