Not that bad. All the US wanted (or, in another word, what they gained) was a base close both to China and Iran. But it is not free. That is the key. It is not free. And because China is stronger and stronger, such cost would be more and more expensive. Today, the US needed to kill ET leader to gain China's support. Five years ago, they did not need to. Because nations like Pakistan are close China, China has great leverage. China could use a lot of cards to force the US to increase its bids to stay in the game. The longer the game, the weaker the US because their front line is too long and is too far away from their core area. And more importantly, the US has emerged a number of structural issues from inside out. What China is really afraid is that the US suddenly does not want to play the game and withdraw its forces from Asia and other non-core areas to implement its strategic retreat. If that is the case, the US will stay in the No. 1 place longer. Pakistan is a small country and highly dependent on big nations' support. Even if the pro-US side comes into power in the next a few years, it will still keep a balancing relationship with China. All China needs to do now is still to build its own inner power and attraction. Once its mussle is strong, you do not need to say a word and the others will follow you. |
