Steam plumes rise as lava from a fissure enters the Pacific Ocean on Hawaii's Big Island near Pahoa on May 21. The lava haze, or "laze," is created when molten rock hits the ocean. The telecast topped the 22.8 million people who watched Harry's older brother, Prince William, marry Kate Middleton in 2011.
