Paul Tudor Jones is having a tough year with his flagship hedge fund dropping 4.7% during the first half of 2014. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, and a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he was a boxing champion, Jones started in the investment business in 1976, first as a clerk and then as a successful cotton trader. He started Tudor Investment Corporation in 1980, when he was just 26, where he became legendary for shorting the 1987 stock market crash. Jones owns property in the Florida Keys and in Tanzania. He is the founder of New York City's poverty-fighting Robin Hood Foundation, which several of his fellow hedge fund billionaires contribute to. Jones has also been a generous alum to the University of Virginia, where he's helped finance a new basketball arena and academic research facilities.
