Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) President and Chief Executive Officer Evan Siddall said unforeseen circumstances helped the domestic housing market avert the worse-case scenario, which CMHC had described as a potential 18 per cent drop in home prices from pre-pandemic levels.
“We never pretended to have an crystal ball. Nor are we all-knowing on housing,” he said.

CMHC announced that Romy Bowers will assume the roles of the agency's president and chief executive officer, effective April 6.
She replaces outgoing CEO Evan Siddall, who walked back his own dire predictions of how the COVID-19 pandemic would affect Canadian homes in a series of tweets on Monday.
近期民意调查显示,三分之二认为CMHC已经失信于民。从换将结果来看,CMHC已失去往日光环,沦为非核心重要机构。 |
