agree to your first post, disagree to your last post.
in ANY bussiness, stocking trading, since and engineer, politics, etc, you need to have talent to become the top 1%, the best of best, plus a lot of hard work AND good opportunity.
however most people don't have that kind of talent in the work they do, but hard work can make up a lot, enough to come ahead of a lot of people, as a result they can achieve their realistic goal. but that's all it MATTERS. what matters is do something that most people can't do, that provides a sense of achievement. effort can overcome personal limitation. we can't chose the gene, but we can chose to work hard and, with experience, to achieve our goals.
I work in silicon vally, I know a lot of very smart people. sadly I'm not one of them. a few of them do amazing things, something I can't imagine I would be able to do. but most of those very smart people are just like me, nothing fantistic about them. just have a job, not a fulfilling career. why? later I realized they get comfortable with life and just move along. hard work means sacrifice. most people want fun, enjoyment. so they have the tablent, but they are not puting it to good use.
actually everybody is good at something, while not good at other things. what is more important is to know what you're really good at, and keep workiing at it to continuously improve it. this is a easier and less painful way to success. remember it's all about competion!!
tell you a trick, IQ test can reveal someone's true talent, something you may not know yourself.
