美国女议员超市遭乱枪扫射危殆 6人死亡

美国众议院女议员吉福德8日上午10时，在亚利桑那州一家超级市场出席活动时，遭人近距离枪击，头部中弹，媒体初步报导，事件中另有11人中弹，其中吉福德的一名助手已证实死亡。美国总统奥巴马称，这是一起“难以形容”的惨剧；众议院议长博纳也对袭击感到震惊，并矢言社会绝不容忍针对公众人物的暴力事件。

事发在亚利桑那州图森市，头部近距离中弹的吉福德危殆，另外受伤的还有至少11人，包括吉福德的团队成员，吉福德由直升机送往当地的大学医疗中心施手术抢救，但有6人不幸丧生。消息说，吉福德是民主党的温和派，当时正在出席活动拉近与选民的距离，一名男子突然走上前用自动武器向人群乱枪扫射，有目击者聴到15至20下枪击声。据报凶徒被当场制服扣查，但动机未明，联邦调查局已加入协助当地警察调查案件。

吉福德生于1970年，丈夫是宇航员凯利，吉福德2007年1月就任众议员，是太空及航空小组委员会的主席，主张改革移民法、胚胎干细胞研究、提高最低工资等。

Arizona Congresswoman Shot!

This is so sad.

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was shot outside a grocery store in Tucson Saturday morning during a public event.

According to a spokeswoman for University Medical Center in Tucson, she is currently undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound to the head.

Reports say that at least 17 other people were injured, including a child around the age of 10. Six people are reportedly dead.

An Arizona federal judge was also among the 11 people that were shot.

The suspect is said to be in custody.

So crazy. And just so tragic.
