The markets were up today on light volume. The Nasdaq at major resistance.
Strong overseas economic data and the Fed's view for continued low interest rates pushed stocks higher Wednesday.
The Nasdaq led with a 0.7% gain. Chip issues were strong. The Philadelphia semiconductor index rose 1.3%.
Meanwhile, the Dow and the S&P 500 gained 0.5% and 0.4%, respectively. Both hit 13-month highs. The NYSE composite rose 0.4%. Turnover fell on both major exchanges.
Weekly jobless claims and the Treasury budget will be out Thursday.
