MSFT was in an very overbought position, and quite expensive relative to S&P level.
If GS didn't make the call, I would think it may close down below 23, at least to start re-testing MA20 after breaking MA200.
With the upgrade, MSFT opened directly to 24, and stayed without much of a fight.
An interesting thing is, MSFT June option doesn't have a strike price at 24, but just 23, 25.
I don't know what give GS the reason to upgrade, but BING in my opinion, should not make a case.
Web search market has been overwhelmed, ad revenue will also come down during recession, even GOOG knows this and tries to shift into other business.
Vista is a completely disaster, and lately its PC-joint ventures start thinking of Linux, with all other things make MSFT's revenue and earning shrinking big.
MSFT don't make a buy case, at this price level, at this time, at all (not till Windows 7 receives welcome)
But sure it's a good pick, if GS wants to lift the index and change the sentiment. |
