Orphan elephant calves are fed a special formula by their keepers at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, in Kenya. The community-owned and run elephant sanctuary gives care to abandoned or orphaned elephant calves due for release back to the wild as they approach the age of four. The sanctuary also benefits the local Samburu people who are seen as an expanding community-driven grassroots conservation movement in northern Kenya.
