Too many traders are shorting the market and holding their position over the weekend???
This piece of data is useless as it is based on Sunday market. Only desperate amateurs and gamblers trade on the Sunday market when there are no news moving events. They can be right or wrong and there is no pattern. It's far better to track non-Sunday Wall St, Germany and FTSE markets. Though surprisingly, based on years of tracking, I find that the data to be non-contrarian. When there is an extreme build-up of shorts, the market will top out. When there is an extreme build-up of longs, the market will bottom out. However, the actual position at which it actually would reverse appears to be market condition dependent (i.e., bull trend and bear trend) and no two bull trend would top out at the same reading nor two bear trends would bottom out at the same reading. |
