我想我以前问过一位我很尊敬的老者你说的那个问题。我把它找了出来,给你看看那位老者的回答。
我自己无缘也无意成为基督徒,不过我不烦敢听看看双方的说法
就是你说吃人肉的那段
In the Old Testament especially, God often told certain persons (He called them His prophets) what was going to happen in the future. I think you know that God liberated the Jews from years of captivity in Egypt, preserved them in their escape from the Egyptian pharaoh and delivered them by many mighty acts in a wilderness for 40 years and then enabled them to establish themselves as the nation of Israel (in the land He promised to give them) calling them His "chosen people". He gave them precise instructions for worshipping Him (The Ten Commandments and procedures for worship ) but they never did follow these instructions - in fact, they turned to the worship of idols and rebelled against God again and again even though God kept telling them and their prophets and kings that He would cause other nations to conquer them if they refused to listen to Him and obey Him. Finally, God caused the Babylonians to carry them away to Babylonian captivity for 70 years. God saw to it however that they retained their nationality and enabled them to return Israel and reestablish their capital in Jerusalem. They did not return to idol worship, however they did develop a system of rules and religious doctrines that blinded their eyes to the extent that the Jewish rulers did not recognize that when Jesus came to earth that He was the Messiah that God told them through many Old Testament prophecies would someday come to them. Many Jews did see this of course and became the first Christians. ---now to your question:
In ancient times when nations fought, those defending themselves from an invading army would seek protection within fortified cities. The invaders would "lay siege" against the cities, surrounding and attacking the defenders who, after awhile, would deplete their food supplies and would even turn to eating those who died from the resulting famine - a truly gruesome state of affairs and God told the Jews through His prophets that this would happen if they continued to follow "other gods"/idols. God's first commandment to them in the wilderness was to love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength - but they ignored God's way and chose their own so they really chose to "go it alone" without the one and only God and His love and protection - so God allowed them to suffer the consequences of rebellion. We know that God allows people to either accept or reject Him and if we reject Him - yes, we may even become so depraved as to eat corpses if driven to it.
I think that you may know much, even most, of what I've written, but I wrote at length since I was not sure which part of what your friend told you was of concern to you. As we've discussed before, there are many people who read the Bible who take some part of it out of context and draw inaccurate conclusions about God, Jesus, the Gospel, etc. Sometimes, they even form "churches" or "denominations" based on faulty knowledge of God's Word. Pascal, a famous scientist of earlier years, said that "He who would understand Scripture except by (use of) Scripture is an enemy of Scripture.
Your question from Jeremiah 19:9 is an excellent opportunity for you to practice Pascal's principle. You can first read all of Chapter 19 to get the whole situation as prophesied by Jeremiah and then turn to the prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 18:21-32. Verses 30-32 summarize the passage with the truth that God's handling of individuals as well as of Israel is because of His love that wants us to have a new heart and a new spirit because He always wants us to seek Him to have abundant life. We must always think the best of God's words and actions throughout all the Bible. After all, He so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life (John 3"16). |
