do not over trade future. looks like your acct doesn't allow big loss at all, that's was why you only allow $100 loss for this trade, that means future might not be the right for you if you can only allow $100 for a trade.

Thanks for the counts sss111222, I think in order to get 1020-1030 area, SPX needs the second gap and open above or near 1020 area. if spx open at 1000, we will not see 1020-1030 tomorrow because the overhead resistance will be very strong intra day at 1020.

 

so far ES future is very confusing now, it is waiting for reaction from European mkt

I try to find some exact top/bottom, and get quick profit.  today the first top was 1004, so I shorted at 1004 at the second one, didn't get stoped out and made some profit. 

 

But dip to the 987.5 didn't work as I thought, MM made a deep pierce to 985.5. 

 

You are right, I don't want to take big loss.  My account is struggling in lots of small profits and small losses.  Hope I could learn something from you and getting better

I posted on another one also, I normally put stop at major intra day support after I enter a position, when the position goes my way, I will move stops to protect profit. Trailing stops are used as I am ready to take profit at certain level.

 

Options: normally hard to set stops without watch it closely. better do spread rather than naked call or puts. I am not an expert on options. maybe you can ask other masters here who are good at options.

based on your acct size, you need a good plan to partition your positions and calulate the max risk for each trade. If the risk of futue trading is always over your normal risk limit for a position, then future trade is not right for you. so be careful. every time when I post my trade, you can see I always goes with stops, I have to figure out stops before I enter a position. That is the baseline of trading futures.

990 is the life line for this course, below 990 means the peak is in, the pull back start.

 

so watch 990 line. If mkt can NOT stand above 990, cover longs

Laoda, how you evaluate the relationship between overnight ES performance and daytime SPX trend? For example, yesterday future touch 985 line, an important supporting line as you mentioned. Do it mean we will see this point again during daytime trading?
