last words, about "make a living"

he made over 8K in 3 days, okay, If, I mean if, he can do that consistently. that is 15K per week, 60K per month, 720K per year.

I don't know what kind of living you get based on that kind of income.

I guess a lot of folks just did not realize what a heck of job is that.

有这么多钱，光做SPY options就可以make a living了。

根本不用冒险。

one week = $8,637/3*5 = $14,395
one year = 52 weeks = $14,395 * 52 = $748,540

This doesn't seem to me a great trading record.  Let's dig into his data and see he actually achieved in these 3 days.  

The total of 103 trades with a net profit of $8637.  With 77% of win-loss ratio, he made 79 wins and 24 losses.  He didn't provide the number of gross profit, so we can't really know how big his average gain is with the winning trades.  

To make things easier, let's assume his average gain of the winning trades equals to the average loss of his losing trades, then the average gain will be 8637/(79-24)=157, $157/each trade.  He trades 6 - 75 contracts.  If we assume his average trade is 10 contracts and he only trades ES, then, he made $15.7 per contract, per trade.  That's only 0.3 point/per trade.

The total amount of $8637 is impressive, but everything else isn't outstanding at all.

okay, first, more than 90% of traders lose money, that leaving less than 10% can either barely break even or make some money.

second, 2 points is average net gain. sure sometime you make more than that. but don't forget the day you lose.

average 2 points/contract, if you trade 10 contracts each time, that is 1000 per day, 22K per month, roughly 250 K per year with low tax rate.

what is the average household income in US.

Don't forget we are only talking about 10 contracts, which only require over 5000 dollar margin requirement.

我的做法有点像阻击手，把握高的时候才扣扳机。

所以虽然Trade的次数少了，胜率确能保持在比较高的水平上。

Just like John Carter said in his book, not everyone is cut out for ES, you are out in the roughest open sea with the most fierce sharks.  One has to find the right market that suites his/her personality. For me, ES is definitely a no no, but DT soy bean seems a yes (for now) :)
