Even White House thinks it needs to comment on the fall ... so we have some serious fall today ...
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Markets "go up and down," White House spokesman Jay Carney said Thursday, after the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell as much as 372 points. He said the Obama administration is monitoring the situation in Europe closely and that a lot of global issues are affecting the economy. The administration believes that the U.S. will "continue to grow and create jobs," he added. Carney also said Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has said he will stay for the foreseeable future. The New York Times had reported earlier in the day that the White House had asked Geithner not to leave after the debt-ceiling negotiations concluded. |
