September All Over Again?
Interestingly, October has started out just like September for the market. Market participants will remember that the S&P 500 sold off on the last two days of August and continued lower over the first two trading days of September. On the third trading day of September, the market took off and didn't look back until later in the month.
As shown in the chart below, the last two days of September and the first two days of October look almost exactly like they did last month. Today the market is registering nice gains just like it did on the third trading day of September. If we get another month like September, the bulls will be fine with the losses we've seen over the past few days. |
