Stop要和Entry连起来用。

在牛市里，Buy&Hold，总能赚钱。

没有Stop，一个突发事件就完了。所以不能一概而论。

这和你的仓位、资金管理、个人风险承受能力有关。因为你不能保证自己买了什么就一定能赚，只是防范风险的手段吧 （it means what to do if you were wrong)。被震仓出局也可能是庄家凶悍或stop过于谨慎造成，这个自己也很难预料。回头看看，也许捂是对，也许早出局是对，这两种情况我都遇到过。哈哈！算我没说。也有些人根本不设stop,看好后，分几批买进，不追高，控制每批仓位的介入点，中线持有，最后总体赢利而出。

Stop出问题，多数是因为入点不好。

This is how I look it as a very very low hands. For example, if you bought XOM today, just hold it and no need to stop loss at all. 3% dividend is not bad, right? Plus oil price does not effect XOM too much (FA wise). Its' yr low is around 60. Let's say it goes there and never moves up, 3 yrs later, the dividend yield helps you break even. Another example is SPY. Its value play is in the range 870 (low) to 950(very high). If you short it around 1030, sooner or later, you will be out of water. If you long it below 870, you will be out of water too. There is no Holy grill in this business and there will never be.

我现在越来越觉得这个STOP－LOSS并不见得让你少亏。象几个星期前我SHORT GS。如果不STOP－LOSS，今天还不是一样出水了。

我觉得特别是ETFS，INDEXES，好象死磕也能熬出头，不用总用去看波波， 又累人，好象也没省 ...

hard to say,
short 2x/3x ETF decays too fast,死磕 definitely not works there.
or if you use margin, 死磕 also could wipe you out.

Also say you short SPX at 1030 today, if it only dropped below 1030 3 years later, does it worth you to 死磕  for 3 years?

Do you think that we are in 牛市 already? I do... I have some 2011 leap calls, no stop at all. I just get frustrated with stop-loss when I play futures.

六楼就是答案。
在给定的Stop下，入点非常关键。

宽的Stop会好一些，但是Reward/Risk变小。

所以，我的策略是等好的入点，Set tight Stop。重复，直到Win。

如果连续错几次，可能方向做反了。退出，重新评估市场。

You can't win all the trades, you only need is win some big and loss lots smalls.

you are right about 2X/3X. But I'm not sure about SPX. it could dip to 1000 and then go north. If I short es today at close, I still think I have a chance to get out even or with some p ...

I think for low hand(I am a low hand), you should trade less, wait patiently to entry the market.

For example, for this round up, lots of guys think 106x could be the top(though it went to 1082), so if you start to short at 106x, even if it went to 108x, you can hold or even add more short.

Do not trade too much unless you do  day trading.

STOP LOSS是死的,人是活的.
你做反的时候,市场也很少一下子把你打死. 见势不妙就要走人, 不要PRAY.

这是在建仓时计划的一部分。买的时候就该想好了，这是死磕的股票，还是要止损的股票。如果想好了死磕，那当然死磕，而且死磕到底，不可半途而废；如果止损，止损的指标是啥。

总之一句话：plan your trade and trade your plan
虽然plan可以变，但不要无厘头的乱变。

yes, when doing futures trading, stop loss is a must.

in my paper acct, i still have es long at 1039 and 1031. if i would have stop in place, i would just stop out with small lose and then i can prepare for new entry.

i also tried HG trading in paper acct too, and had similiar experience. when position is in deep water, the mindset would be screwed and more mistake may follow.
