Microsoft profit disappoints as sales drop 17%

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Microsoft Corp. said Thursday its fiscal fourth quarter net income fell to $3.05 billion, or 34 cents a share, from $4.3 billion, or 46 cents a share in the same period a year earlier. Revenue in the period ended in June fell 17% to $13.1 billion, Microsoft said. Wall Street analysts had expected Microsoft to post fourth-quarter earnings of 36 cents a share on $14.37 billion in revenue, according to data compiled by Thomson Reuters.

Well, I do not think it has anything to do with the ren drop. CAT revenue drop 46% and share price up 10%.

It just went up too much. Many stocks are closing to 52 week high but their revenue are down YOY.

Fxxx TNND. Have to be amazed by how the MMs or big hands (or whatever you call them) can time so perfectly. After such a breathtaking run (esp. today's crazy push), we now have disapointing ERs from MSFT and AMZN.   Just imagine those bears who cut today!  Speechless!

But MSFT was close to 52 week high today, when intel reported, it was nowhere there.

Actually lots of hot NAZ stocks are close 52 week high(AMZN even new high), that does not make much sense though.

Last Tuesday and today the prices of stocks are totally different. same kind of news are be explained differently. If MSFT's earning report were released last Tuesday, Wall Street would think that is a news as good as INTC's. Right now the prices of stocks have been up a lot, MSFT report can support the moving up of stocks, that is only bad news.
