see the following weekly charts. In 2000 bear mkt, when the RSI(14) was dangling around 50, the mkt took quite a long time to be topped, just like now. And more importantly, it even shoot up crazily to scare every bear out of shorting at the end, also just like NOW. The weekly MA(50) even turned flat for a while. I was not there, but I think many people at that time shall have believed the big bulls were returning.
However, since then, the mkt did top with a M and marked the middle of the bear market. It took another year to finally end it.
Check the pattern by yourself. IMHO, it's very like what's happening now. Will the history repeat itself now? Let's sit tight and watch.
