Hartford More Than Doubles on Raised 2008 Forecast (Update4)By Andrew Frye

2008 Dec. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. more than doubled in New York trading after the insurer lifted its 2008 forecast for operating profit and said the capital outlook at its insurance units was “strong.”

Hartford rose $7.38 to $14.59 at 4.04 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading and sold for as much as $16.08. Earnings, excluding some investment results, may be $4.70 to $4.90 a share, Hartford said today during an investor conference. The insurer predicted in October that so-called core earnings would be $4.30 to $4.50.
