If you play index, you always have chance to cut loss with maxmum 20% loss. This is similar to playing stock or QID.

 

So my answer is, no matter how much fund you play for risk capital, always manage your risk.

I choose to play index or etf mainly due to lack of resource (time, efforts, etc) to track large number of stocks.  Plus individual stocks are more likely to be manipulated.  I usually don't play options because I don't feel confident being right on direction, timing and extent of the movement, all at the same time.

 

Now most of all, I am trying to avoid roller-coaster ride by managing risk properly -- just realized its importance.
