CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Renewable energy firm Solyndra, recipient of a $535 million federal energy loan guarantee, went bust Wednesday, shutting its California headquarters and throwing more than 1,000 people out of work, according to media reports. The firm, once championed by the White House as part of the new wave of "green job" creation, will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Bloomberg reports.
