April 9 -- Greece hasn’t sought emergency
funding from European Union partners, according to an e-mailed
statement from the office of Prime Minister George
Papandreou today.
In the course of the day, Papandreou spoke with European
Central Bank Governor Jean-Claude Trichet, Luxembourg Prime
Minister Jean-Claude Junker, European Commission President Jose
Barroso and Herman Van Rompuy, the president of the 27-member
bloc, according to the statement. Discussions centered on the
European economy and on European Union “movements in relation
to markets”, according to the statement.
Activating the aid mechanism hasn’t been requested,
according to the statement, and wasn’t discussed during the
conversations. |
