Conventional Wisdom Isn't So Wise
Jim Cramer
I have heard it a dozen times today -- "the long-awaited correction." I cannot believe that everyone who is asked whether we are now having the "long-awaited correction" has given us variations of "yes," "absolutely" and "of course." The uniformity of the "long-awaited correction" conventional wisdom may actually doom the notion of anything major happening, as too many people are expecting it. First, amazingly, no one is even thinking that some of the decline today could be related to options expiration. Other than the semiconductor downgrade, there's very little bad news out there. Limited and Ross Stores reported great numbers and outlooks, as did Phillips Van Heusen and NetApp. We did have a momentary slip in the Baltic Freight, but it has been straight up for some time.
