margin account question

i just open the margin account at scottrade, but how come when buy/sell used margin fund, but I still have non-marginable buying power show in my account. will that charge fee to me? How can I use my non-marginable buying power to buy/sell?

I think you will always use Buying Power of Non-Marginable Securities for stock trading as default setting. Under the situation when your Buying Power of Non-Marginable Securities is not sufficient to buy the shares, the system will use Buying Power of Marginable Securities, then it will charge you.
