I have not tried a similar strategy of mine but I think it may also help you to surely make (small amount of) money when the market has a short-term trend:

Simultaneous purchase of TNA and TZA with the same initial amount of money and sell both TNA and TZA later.

It appears that TNA and TZA usually vary by the same percentages. So, initially, if you have $200 and have them in TNA and TZA:
$100 TNA + $100 TZA = $200.

Next day TNA and TZA change by 10%, now, you have
$110 TNA + $90 TZA = $200.

The following day TNA and TZA change by additional 10%, now, you have
$121 TNA + $81 TZA = $202.

You see, you are making money when the market has a swing trend. However, if in the following day TNA and TZA change by a reversed 10%, then, you have
$99 TNA + $99 TZA = $198.
In this case, you will lose money.

Here, you only have to know that the market has a trend to make money. You do not have to know whether the trend is up or down. You will make money in either case.
